Complete installation of IKEA EKET wall cabinets

€50
Task Assigned

Description

I need a handyman to complete the installation of 5 IKEA EKET wall cabinets on a plasterboard wall. When drilling we hit something hard behind the plaster and stopped, as we’re unsure if it’s a stud, concrete, or a pipe/cable. Looking for someone experienced with plasterboard walls who can check for services, use correct fixings, and safely complete the installation. Cabinets and rails are already assembled. Preference for someone with a stud/cable detector.

Task Location: Carrigmore Cres, Fortunestown, Dublin
Due date: Any day of the week Thursday 25 Dec to Wednesday 31 Dec 2025

@Edward A. Hi Edward, Thanks for the quote. Before confirming, could you please let me know if you have equipment (stud / cable / pipe detector) to check for any electrical cables or water pipes between the plasterboard wall and the concrete wall behind it, before drilling? Once confirmed, I’m happy to proceed.

@Daniel D. Hi Daniel, I’ve uploaded a couple of photos for reference. The IKEA EKET cabinets come with a wall rail that can be adjusted and fixed to the wall. When I started drilling, I went through the drywall and plaster but then hit a hard surface. I believe there is a concrete wall behind the plasterboard (this wall borders the emergency stairs). I stopped because I’m not sure if there are any pipes or electrical services in the gap between the plasterboard and the concrete, and I didn’t want to risk damaging anything. I’m looking for someone experienced who can check this safely and complete the installation using the correct fixings. Do you have the equipment to check whether there are any pipes or electrical cables between the plasterboard and the concrete wall? From what I can see, once this is confirmed, the job itself should be fairly straightforward.
